Damon became unhealthily obsessed with surfing after a couple of summer holidays spent in Coldingham. It was during these trips that the possibility of surfing in Scotland became apparent, and he first started travelling up and down the A1 religiously when he began Bodyboarding at the age of 14. Much of his teens were spent in a caravan in Pease Bay, usually joined by a young Mr Paul Jones, and every now and then the owners of the caravan! He has been a regular visitor to the North Coast since his first trip with the Pease Bay surf club in 1997.
During a four year spell in Aberdeen he crossed to the darkside due to a lack of good Bodyboarding-suited waves in the area.. He has persisted with stand-up surfing since then and enters competitions whenever he can, his best result to date being a 4th place finish at the Granite Reef Open ’05 in Aberdeen.
Damon has gathered a lot of local and national surfing knowledge over the years, has recently been involved with the re-establishment of the Scottish Surfing Federation and has a hands on role with the team at Pura Nectar. He’ll be more than happy to talk to you all day about any of the above, if you have any queries about local conditions, equipment etc he can (occasionally) be found at the shop and (frequently) at the coast when there’s a bit of swell.
Paul is an underground charger who is always on the coasts heaviest reefs when they start firing. He is part of a like-minded crew of East Coast bodyboarders who have pioneered, and continue to explore the possibilities of, the South-east's shallowest slabs.
Paul has over 10 years of Bodyboarding experience on the East coast and is highly committed to the sport. He has had a lot of input with Puro Nectar, lending his expertise and enthusiaim to the operation.
He's made repeated excursions to the Canary Islands and has tackled some of the best Bodyboarding breaks on the Island's over the years. This is despite being badly scarred on both legs, after a wipeout at Rocky Point on his first trip there as a young grom!
